
I don’t know how many times I have worked on a design project that I end up falling in love with (rule: never be “married” to a project). But of course, it gets handed over to a client, whom usually doesnt have a design background, which is why they hired you in the first place, and then it looks like someone barfed all over it. I try not to get attached but 90% of the time, it breaks my heart.
If you’re a designer you will know that style guides are key when working on a project, especially if your working with a team of designers, or handing it over to a client. Smashing Magazine posted an awesome article on style guides, what to include, and how making them look visually pleasing will actually make you look more professional than you are.
Now, having a client actually stick to those guidelines is not a promise. But hey, nobody’s perfect lol.
